Innovative technologies in natural areas – real time monitoring system of visit of hiking trails in Slovenia

Use case

The overload of sensitive mountain ecosystems and the exceeded carrying capacity of areas require new measures for efficient dispersion and timely diversion of visit. Data based decision making process should replace old analogue methods.

The system collects real-time data on visits to five popular destinations and combines it with other relevant data to enable a better understanding of the visits in the Alpine area and to support the sustainable rerouting of Alpine flows.
