Online competence centre in 3D for Cultural Heritage

3D-4CH plans to deploy an online competence centre which will help cultural institutions to make the most of opportunities offered by 3D and other advanced technologies and contribute to the 2021 European Commission Recommendation and its objectives towards 3D digitisation of cultural heritage. The 3D-4CH competence centre will offer cultural heritage professionals access to knowledge and guidance on best practices and standards, to accredited training opportunities, to established tools and services, and information about the latest developments and new research. For researchers, educators and enterprises the 3D-4CH competence centre will offer a forum in which to share news and to offer courses, materials and tools up for certification.

Arctur’s role

Deploy the online competence centre leveraging and re-using existing infrastructures to showcase impactful use of 3D data.  The Online Competence Centre will be an user-friendly online platform, that will, offer training, guidelines, standards and best practices for cultural heritage professionals, showcase high-quality 3D content and support the aggregation and long-term preservation and integrate existing tools for 3D storage, visualisation, interpretation. New approaches to storytelling and visitor engagement in XR will be explored, and existing tools refined based on stakeholder feedback.
