CLASSICA Features at EAES Maastricht 2024

The CLASSICA project team attended the 32nd international congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) in Maastricht from June 11th to 14th, 2024. The project was showcased in the Technology Corner, with EAES Executive Director Arjan Appel representing CLASSICA.

On June 11th, the team conducted a course chaired by Ronan Cahill, featuring lectures by experts including Samo Eržen from Arctur. The course covered advanced topics in surgery and AI, such as local excision for neoplasia and AI-related liability issues.

The EAES-CLASSICA Task Force met on June 12th to discuss implementing CLASSICA in operating rooms, addressing potential challenges and facilitators. Patrick Boland presented on fluorescence angiography of rectal lesions, highlighting the technology's potential in distinguishing between benign and malignant tissues.

On June 14th, Ronan Cahill presented at the AI Masterclass, detailing the development and application of the CLASSICA project in surgical practices.

EAES, a key partner in the CLASSICA project, supports the integration of AI-driven decision support in surgery, ensuring that the project's outputs are clinically validated and accepted by surgeons.
