Project Amazing AoE (Amazing AoE Responsible Green Destination Amazon of Europe) was running between July 2020 and December 2022 with the aim to enhance sustainable economic growth and tourism development based on distinctive natural and cultural heritage, which will result in a collaboration network of key actors and enabling environment for high-quality tourism, responding to limited resources of ecosystems in the Danube Region, also known as Amazon of Europe (AoE).

13 project partners and 15 associated partners under the leadership of Iskriva Institute joined forces to upgrade innovative solutions and integrate them into the AoE region to further develop sustainable tourism. By involving all stakeholders, the joint strategies, IT solutions and learning interactions were developed and implemented at a significantly broader destination level.

Arctur significantly contributed to the project activities.

The team of our experts prepared the sustainable framework of the Responsible Green Destination (RGD) Tourism Impact Model (TIM).  Furthermore, Arctur's team members extensively worked on RGD TIM which forms the basis for sustainable development of tourism in the AoE destination, creating also the foundation for future integration with various IT solutions. According to the plan, Arctur's team took over the development of this innovative tool with the help of partners who contributed feedback regarding the chosen indicators and conducted data mapping to identify the information sources.

To share the knowledge on how to use state-of-the-art technology and solutions for sustainable development, Arctur team prepared and carried out four training of using digital innovation for heritage protection and presentation. Our experts also helped to formulate ideas and concepts for new tourism products and to identify how the RGD TIM model can provide data for monitoring the set strategic goals and objectives. To bring RGD TIM tool into practice, Arctur's team helped project partners to finish RGD TIM assessments for 24 tourism locations. The results were analysed and presented to project partners at the 6th and 9th SCOM meeting. In addition, Arctur organised bilateral meetings with each project partner where partners presented the results for their locations in more detail. The focus of the presentation was to teach project partners how to understand the RGD TIM assessment report and how to identify key information, especially regarding data availability and reliability.

To set the guideliness, Arctur in collaboration with other partners defined starting points of the Joint concept on digital innovation of natural and cultural heritage and contributed to the Joint strategy and Sustainability and transferability plan, which was prepared by the lead partner Iskriva.

In the final part of the project, the RGD TIM model was tested at specific micro-locations in 2 transnational pilot areas: AoE West & AoE East. The results were presented at the 10th SCOM meeting and at the final conference in Lenti. Project partners who passed the RGD TIM assessments successfully were handed the RGD TIM expert certificates at the award ceremony, held at the 11th SCOM meeting. The output of the RGD TIM model has been validated in 2 pilot areas.

On this occasion, we would like to thank all partners and stakeholders for all the hard work which results in impressive outputs which will help to responsibly exploit the amazing AoE region for future sustainable tourism activities.
